TYLERTOWN, Miss. (AP) - A Walthall County man has been charged with murder and first-degree arson in the death of his mother.

Assistant District Attorney Timothy Jones tells the Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/1jihAe5 ) that 29-year-old Brian Fortenberry was arrested Tuesday in the death of his 59-year-old mother, Elizabeth Fortenberry, and setting her mobile home on fire.

The woman could not be found Monday when firefighters responded to the fire. Her body was later found in a wooded area about 2 miles from her home. Coroner Shannon Hartzog says she had been shot in the head.

Brian Fortenberry remains in the county jail without bond pending an initial court appearance.
