CARTHAGE, Miss. (AP) - Authorities in Leake County say a body found Friday is a 28-year-old Philadelphia, Miss., man who fled when deputies questioned him about outstanding arrest warrants.

WLBT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1g3RKXA ) Cortez Coburn had been missing since Jan. 29.

Leake deputies had stopped to talk with Coburn on Mars Hill Road where his vehicle had run out of gas.

He fled into the woods after a records-check turned up misdemeanor warrants, investigators say.

The body was spotted in woods about a quarter-mile off Mars Hill Road by a National Guard helicopter crew.

It was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Authorities did not provide details on how they think Coburn died.
