LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas judge will be asked whether a pet shop owner should remain free while fighting criminal charges that she torched her store with 27 puppies inside.

Gloria Eun Hye Lee is expected to again face animal rights protesters Friday at the Clark County Regional Justice Center.

Prosecutor Shanon Clowers is due to ask Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Janiece Marshall to set a high bail for Lee or jail her pending a Feb. 24 preliminary hearing.

Firefighters rescued the puppies alive during the early Jan. 27 fire at Lee’s Prince and Princess pet store.

Authorities say security video shows Lee and a man later identified as Kirk Bills setting the fire.

Both face 31 charges including arson, conspiracy, burglary and attempted animal cruelty.

Bills hasn’t been arrested.
