ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Brent Sass remains the one to beat In the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race.

The Eureka musher was the first to leave Dawson City in Canada’s Yukon Territory, departing at 11:02 a.m. Thursday after a 36-hour layover required at the checkpoint for all mushers.

Allen Moore of Two Rivers was second out of Dawson City, leaving 88 minutes after Sass.

Running third is Hugh Neff, who left Dawson city one minute before 3 p.m. Thursday.

The race started Saturday in Fairbanks, and will end near Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Fifteen mushers remain in the race.
