LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 28-year-old woman whose son lived five years before dying of traumatic brain injuries is going to prison for trying to hide her boyfriend’s role in fatally injuring the child.

Monique Karien Bork was sentenced Wednesday to the maximum eight to 20 years in state prison after pleading guilty before trial and testifying against Edward Thompson Jr.

A Clark County District Court jury found the 34-year-old Thompson guilty Monday of causing injuries in 2006 that led to Brayden Grusman-Buckmaster’s death in 2011.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1gUHmEV ) that Thompson and Bork married two weeks after the boy was hospitalized.

That meant Bork couldn’t be forced to testify against Thompson.

But after the couple was arrested in 2012, Bork pleaded guilty to felony child abuse causing substantial bodily harm.
