GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - A former East Gaston High School teacher has entered an Alford plea after authorities accused him of forcing a kiss on a student more than two years ago.

The Gaston Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1bxJsmH) 34-year-old Bradford Wayne Mulkey on Friday entered the Alford plea, in which a defendant doesn’t admit guilt but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to convict them.

Mulkey pleaded guilty to crimes against nature, felonious restraint and assault on a female.

Gaston County District Attorney Locke Bell said Mulkey pursued a 17-year-old girl in the fall of 2011, texted her and invited her to his office and home. Bell said the girl refused, but would later bring breakfast to his office. Prosecutors said it was while the girl was in the office that Mulkey restrained and kissed her.
