SENECA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities in Oconee County have charged a teenager in the death of a 21-year-old North Carolina man found near a car with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office charged 17-year-old Octavis Jamal Robinson of Central with involuntary manslaughter.

Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis said Rashean N. Parker II of Gastonia was found Saturday morning. Parker is formerly from Pendleton, S.C.

Parker was pronounced dead at 3 a.m. in the emergency department of Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, nearly two hours after a 911 call. The sheriff’s office said Parker was found on the ground outside a vehicle after he was shot by the suspect while fleeing after an attempted armed robbery.

Addis said Parker also went into cardiac arrest.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
