CHARDON, Ohio (AP) - A northeast Ohio man has received a life sentence for aggravated murder in the seemingly random slaying of a 17-year-old boy struck with the door of a passing car and then beaten with a pipe.

Twenty-seven-year-old Dustin Plottke of Rome Township in Ashtabula (ash-tuh-BYOO’-luh) County will be eligible for parole in 25 years under terms of his sentencing Friday in the death of Daniel Swan.

The News-Herald of Willoughly reports (https://bit.ly/1njZ2HK ) Plottke mumbled a brief apology before Geauga (jee-AW’-guh) County Common Pleas Judge Forrest W. Burt.

Swan’s body was found along a Geauga County road in July 2010.

A companion is serving 15 years to life after pleading guilty to complicity. He’s said Plottke opened the passenger door and hit Swan, then urged him to go back for the beating.
