MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Stephen Holt scored a career-high 29 points as Saint Mary’s took a 69-67 victory over Pepperdine on Saturday.

With 12 seconds left in overtime, Matthew Hodgson blocked Brendan Lane’s shot near the basket. The Waves couldn’t get two putbacks to fall and the ball went out of bounds to Saint Mary’s (18-7, 8-4 West Coast Conference). The Gaels’ Kerry Carter made 1 of 2 free throws with 4.4 seconds left. The Waves weren’t able to bring the ball up the court cleanly and Lane missed a long, rushed 3-point try.

The game went into overtime after Lane dunked with 19 seconds left and Holt missed a jumper.

Holt has 1,999 career points.

Lane finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Pepperdine (14-11, 7-6).

The Gaels’ 19 offensive rebounds led to a 13-5 edge in second-chance points. They have defeated the Waves in 16th straight games.
