NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The son of a Hudson County mayor will not have to serve a prison term for his role in the hacking of a website set up by his father’s political foes.

The Jersey Journal (https://bit.ly/1fQfCMz) reports that Joseph Roque was sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.

The 24-year-old Roque and his father, West New York Mayor Felix Roque, were both charged with conspiracy and gaining unauthorized access to computers. The elder Roque was acquitted on both counts last October, but his son was convicted on a hacking charge.

West New York is a town of about 50,000 residents that sits atop the Palisades along the Hudson River, with views of the Manhattan skyline directly across the water.
