MONTICELLO, Ark. (AP) - Fourth-year seniors Beth Johnson and Brittany Eitel have been named captains of the University of Arkansas at Monticello softball team for the 2014 season.

The announcement was made recently by head coach Alvy Early.

The Blossoms went 29-25 last season after winning the Great American Conference regular season and tournament championships with a 40-14 record in 2012.

Johnson is a native of Allen, Texas, and has started in every game since joining the Blossoms as a freshman in 2011, totaling 170 starts in centerfield.

Eitel is a native of Hallsville, Texas, and has made 152 appearances with 144 starts at catcher over the previous three years. The season starts Feb. 1 at home against Christian Brothers.
