LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association made a counter-offer Tuesday in ongoing negotiations that will determine whether the National Finals Rodeo leaves Las Vegas.

Spokesman Jim Bainbridge said the association made their offer to Las Vegas Events on Tuesday afternoon.

The Las Vegas Events board is expected to meet Wednesday to consider the proposal.

The counter-offer responds to a 10-year proposal Las Vegas Events made in an attempt to keep the Super Bowl of rodeo in Sin City.

The cowboy association is considering leaving for Florida after 29 years in Nevada, depriving the town of an event that ropes in $100 million for the local economy each December.

The 10-day competition takes place in the city’s tourism slow season. Tourism officials have vowed to launch a competing rodeo should it leave.
