PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - VT Halter Marine has laid the keel for one of two articulated tug barge units being built for Bouchard Transportation Co.

VT Halter Marine CEO Bill Skinner says in a new release that construction of the two units began in April at VT Halter Marine’s Pascagoula facility, with delivery scheduled for mid-2015.

The barge measures 625 feet by 91 feet by 47 feet, has a 250,000-barrel capacity and will be used to transport liquid petroleum.

Halter has also scheduled a Feb. 6 launch for the ocean going 112 foot articulated tug barge Denise A. Bouchard, the sister tug to the previously built Evening Star.

Upon delivery, the ATB units and the offshore tug will enter into Bouchard’s fleet service in New York City.
