WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday for a 6-year-old boy from Woonsocket who police say may have been taken out of state by his mother and could be in danger.

Local authorities say Daniel Britt was last seen a week ago with his mother, Andria Britt. They said she may be en route to Washington state.

The alert issued Wednesday afternoon said Andria Britt had shared custody of Daniel with his father but skipped a court date last week and failed to return the boy, a violation of a consent order. The court has since granted the father sole custody, the alert said.

The alert also cited an “immediate risk of harm” to both Andria and Daniel Britt. The reason wasn’t disclosed.

Woonsocket police said investigators had gotten permission from the family court to examine Andria Britt’s medical records and determined the child could be in danger, which prompted the Amber Alert, the Providence Journal reported.

Authorities said Andria Britt drives a red 2004 Ford Focus with Rhode Island tag 942-649. She’s 34, 135 pounds and 5 feet, 5 inches.

Daniel has blue eyes and brown hair. He is 4 feet, 3 inches, and 50 pounds.
