DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz is preparing for his fourth trip to China and says he’s optimistic about having productive discussions on job creation.

The Dothan Eagle reported Tuesday (https://bit.ly/1j7L6Tj ) that Schmitz is traveling along with other Southern mayors in mid-February to promote the U.S.-China Manufacturing Symposium in late March, and to speak with executives of Chinese companies that have expressed interest in expanding operations in the United States.

Smith says he wants to be clear that no local economic development projects are set in stone, but he’s optimistic about future possibilities.

The newspaper reports Dothan has sent a letter of intent to Chinese 3-D printing manufacturer Nanjing Zijin-Lead Electronics to place a sales team in the city and eventually expand into a manufacturing facility.
