TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama guard Trevor Releford’s renewed confidence in his outside shot is paying off for the Crimson Tide.

Releford is putting up the best offensive numbers of his career largely thanks to his 3-point shooting success.

The Kansas City native and four-year starter rides a hot streak back to his home state for Saturday’s game against Missouri.

He’s averaging 22.6 points over the last five games.

Releford is ranked among the Top 5 in the Southeastern Conference in seven statistical categories, including scoring with a career-best 18.9-point average. Releford is fourth in accuracy from 3-point range and is already approaching last year’s total makes .

He says the biggest difference has been confidence in his jumper. Releford says coach Anthony Grant daily tells him, “We need you to take open shots.”
