PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - A Coast Guard member accused of sexual misconduct and other charges has been convicted during a general court-martial in Norfolk.

The Coast Guard says 28-year-old Petty Officer 1st Class Robert Crum was sentenced Friday to 60 days of hard labor and was fined $1,500. He received a letter of reprimand, his pay was cut and he will be restricted to the base in Boston for two months.

The sentence was handed down a day after Crum was convicted of cruelty and maltreatment, false official statements, and wrongful sexual contact involving a junior Coast Guard woman. The Coast Guard says the crimes occurred between January 2011 and April 2012 while both members were assigned to a shore-based unit in Minnesota.
