STANDISH, Mich. (AP) - State regulators have suspended the license of a funeral home in Arenac County after investigators found thousands of dollars for prepaid funerals were not placed in an escrow account.

Richard Weishuhn of Standish also was ordered Friday to stop practicing mortuary science without a license. The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs says Weishuhn was operating R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel in Standish, 35 miles north of Bay City.

A message seeking comment was left with the funeral home Saturday.

The state says there was a failure to put $600,000 of prepaid funeral revenue in escrow. The funeral home also is accused of operating without a licensed manager.
