ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police say a man was stabbed multiple times in an altercation in downtown Albuquerque.

Authorities say officers kept a few blocks of the downtown area closed early Sunday morning to investigate the late-night incident.

Albuquerque police responded to the report of a stabbing Saturday night near Central Avenue and Third Street.

Police say the unidentified victim was found with several wounds and was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital, where he went into surgery.

They say he is listed in critical condition.

Police say four people have been taken into custody for questioning. No arrests have been made.
