SISTERS, Ore. (AP) - Four people are recovering from burns sustained after someone poured gasoline on a warming fire in Sisters.

KTVZ-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1mruztK) that the incident occurred Saturday night. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ty Rupert says a homeowner had built a warming fire but was having trouble keeping it burning, so the group decided to pour gasoline on it.

Rupert says the gas ignited and caused the entire gasoline can to explode, severely burning four people on their bodies, hands and faces.

A hospital official says three of the victims were in critical condition Sunday morning. Deputies say alcohol was not a contributing factor in the explosion.
