ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A West Virginia man on the run from his drug trial will make his first court appearance since getting arrested in New Mexico.

The U.S. Marshals Service says 58-year-old John N. Skruck is scheduled to appear before a federal magistrate Monday in New Mexico.

Deputy marshals arrested him on Saturday in San Cristobal.

Federal authorities have been searching for Skruck since he failed to appear for trial in May 2013.

Prosecutors say Skruck ran the Hot Stuff Cool Things stores in Buckhannon and Clarksburg, W.Va., for owner Jeffrey Paglia before authorities raided and closed them in April 2012.

Authorities say the stores were a major distributor of hallucinogenic bath salts in north-central West Virginia.

Skruck is facing 27 federal charges, including distributing synthetic drugs, drug conspiracy and money laundering counts.
