CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga is saying goodbye to 11 baby penguins.

The chicks will soon be headed to Sea World in San Diego.

Aquarium aviculturist Loribeth Aldrich told the Chattanooga Times Free Press (https://bit.ly/KyKOq5) that the animals will be transferred in the next few months.

The move is an effort to maintain genetic diversity for the animal population and is part of a loan agreement that brought 19 Macaroni and Gentoo penguins to the Tennessee Aquarium in 2007.
