BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Boise State guard Derrick Marks is the Mountain West Conference men’s basketball player of the week.

The junior from Chicago, averaged 20 points and six rebounds in Boise State’s wins over Nevada and Utah State last week.

Marks tallied 21 points, a season-high eight rebounds, five assists and two steals as the Broncos beat Nevada 74-65 on Jan. 14, handing the Wolf Pack its first conference loss of the season. Defensively, he helped hold league scoring leader Deonte Burton to a season-low seven points.

On Saturday, Marks scored 13 of his 19 points in the final 4:44 of BSU’s 78-74 win over Utah State. Marks made a jumper with 39.7 seconds left to pull Boise State within 1. He blocked a breakaway layup attempt by Utah State on the ensuing play and made the go-ahead basket with 23.6 seconds left.
