GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Police have arrested a 37-year-old Gulfport man on a charge of kidnapping after a woman accused him of holding her against her will.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/LMos5n) Michael McBride Cooke was arrested about 2:45 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex after a woman said she had come there to give Cooke a ride but he became angry and refused to let her leave. She told police he choked her, hit her in the face and held her at knifepoint for an undisclosed amount of time before she escaped, fled to the parking lot and had a passer-by call police.

Cooke was taken to the Harrison County jail, where he is being held on a $100,000 cash bond.

It was unclear whether Cooke has an attorney.
