EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) - Maryland State Police say a driver is dead after his car fishtailed into the path of tractor-trailer on snow-covered Route 140 near Emmitsburg.

Cpl. Dave Most says they collided shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The corporal says 66-year-old Samuel Lewis of Brunswick was the only occupant of the westbound passenger car when it swung into the path of the eastbound truck. He says the car then went into a spin and the driver was ejected.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred as more than 4 inches of snow fell across northern Frederick County.
