UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island are looking for a man who struck a pedestrian with a handgun and fired several shots during an attempted robbery.

The victim was walking along Ruxton Street in Uniondale on Saturday when the suspect exited a parked car and told the victim to come over.

When the victim said he had nothing on him, Nassau County police say the suspect struck him in the face with a silver handgun.

As the 21-year-old victim fled, police say the suspect fired several shots and then fled in the car.
