DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Police say a Des Moines man is recovering at a local hospital after he slipped on ice and accidentally stabbed himself in the chest.

William Harrison was listed in serious condition at Iowa Methodist Medical Center Thursday morning. The hospital later cited privacy issues and declined to provide an update on his condition.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1myX85F ) the 31-year-old Harrison was brought to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a knife wound.

Des Moines police say Harrison was using a folding knife to scrape ice as he and his girlfriend inspected a trailer property. Harrison says he slipped on ice as the couple returned to their vehicle. He says he still had the knife in his hand when he slipped.
