PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A pipe burst near the emergency room at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

It happened at about 12:15 p.m. Thursday, causing water to leak into a hallway near some patient care rooms.

Hospital officials say the water didn’t reach the emergency or patient care rooms and no patients were impacted.

The water has since been turned off and crews are working to clean up the mess.

It’s unclear whether the bitterly cold temperatures were a contributing factor to the burst pipe.
