FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Farmington is getting its new police chief from Alaska.

Officials in the northwestern New Mexico city say Steve Hebbe will become Farmington’s police chief on March 10. He’s now deputy police chief in Anchorage.

The Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1au7Zhk ) reports that Farmington City Manager Rob Mayes said Hebbe’s commitment to transparency and accountability helped make him stand out among highly qualified applicants.
