RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - In a story Jan. 23 about the identification of the body of a man who had been missing since his fiancee and brother were fatally shot in San Diego, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the San Diego shootings occurred in a parking lot at the Fashion Valley mall. The shootings occurred at the Westfield Mission Valley mall. The location was also misidentified in a Jan. 18 story.

A corrected version of the Jan. 23 story is below:

Body ID’d as man missing since San Diego killings

Trunk body ID’d as man missing since killings of fiancee, brother in San Diego

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) - A body found in the trunk of a vehicle in Riverside has been identified as a man reported missing since his fiancee and brother were found shot to death in San Diego.

Riverside police also said Thursday that 24-year-old Gianni Belvedere was also the victim of a homicide, although the manner of death wasn’t disclosed.

The body was found Jan. 17 after a caller reported a foul odor emanating from the trunk of a vehicle parked in a lot on Van Buren Boulevard. San Diego police were called to the scene because the vehicle was linked to the missing person case.

Belvedere’s fiancee, Ilona Flint, and his brother, Salvatore Belvedere, were shot in the head and killed in the Westfield Mission Valley mall parking lot at 1 a.m. on Dec. 24.
