NATALBANY, La. (AP) - Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies say a Hammond teen dead in a bar room shooting in Natalbany.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards says the shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. Thursday at Roy’s Night Club.

Edwards says shots were fired as a result of a fight that was taking place between inside the bar.

During the altercation, the sheriff says 19 year-old Wilkaman Nunnery, of Natalbany, intervened and produced a handgun. He says Nunnery then pointed the weapon at 17-year-old D’Markus McKnight and fired one shot striking the victim. As the victim fell to the ground, Edwards said Nunnery fired two more shots.

Edwards says McKnight died at the scene.

The sheriff says a second-degree murder warrant has been issued for Nunnery’s arrest.
