SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A former secretary for a Utah electrical contracting company is facing felony charges after police say she embezzled $500,000 in checks while she worked there.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1l07wbb ) court documents show 40-year-old Terri Ann Jarvis made stolen checks out to credit card and car loan companies, and to herself.

Jarvis was charged this week in 2nd District Court with four counts of theft and eight counts of forgery. She worked for Positive Power, LLC.

The Ogden company has contracts with the Utah Department of Transportation, the state government and The Kroger Co., which supplies Smith’s supermarkets.

Jarvis awaits sentencing in Weber County Jail. She pleaded guilty in 2001 to issuing a bad check of less than $300 and pleaded guilty to attempted forgery about ten years prior.
