NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s largest utility is giving residential natural gas customers a one-month credit in February.

Public Service Electric and Gas says the average customer will save about $40 next month.

The savings come after credits were also issued in November and December.

PSE&G; says the utility purchased natural gas at rates below prevailing market prices due to a surplus in the region. The utility is required to pass the savings on to customers.

Many customers will see some of the reduction in February with the remainder in March.
