ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Police say a suspected mail theft was thwarted when former UFC fighter Keith Jardine took matters into his own hands.

KRQE-TV reports (https://goo.gl/i4nCET) that 41-year-old Richard Davenport was arrested Thursday after Jardine spotted him apparently stealing his mail.

The mixed martial arts fighter says after he saw Davenport grab his mail, he immediately jumped into his Ford Bronco and chased down Davenport outside Albuquerque’s Four Hills neighborhood.

The 38-year-old Jardine, known as the “Dean of Mean,” says he slammed his Bronco in front of Davenport and held him until police arrived.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says officials are investigating the case. The agency says no charges have been filed yet.

It was not known if Davenport had an attorney.
