MEXICO CITY (AP) - A Mexican man suspected in the 1998 killing of a Dutch tourist in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez has been sent back from the United States to face charges.

Prosecutors say suspect Roberto Flores was deported after serving a prison sentence for entering the U.S. illegally.

He is charged in the death of Hester Van Nierop, who was strangled and left under a bed in a hotel room in Ciudad Juarez, across the border form El Paso, Texas.

Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office said Friday Flores was taken into custody by Mexican officials on the border bridge leading into Ciudad Juarez. Two other women died in similar circumstances around the same time, and over 100 women were strangled to death in Ciudad Juarez between 1993 and 2003.
