BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - A probable cause affidavit says a 20-year-old Indiana University accused of trying to make a bomb was described by a friend as a “happy-go-lucky guy” until he began taking LSD last fall.
The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/1jCsCL1 ) the friend told police that 20-year-old Ryder Pickens has not been right since. He became a “recluse,” and began talking about robots and drones taking over the world. The friend says Pickens became “suicidal.”
Pickens has pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $1 million surety bond. He is charged with attempted manufacture of an explosive device, which carries up to eight years in prison. He has pleaded not guilty.
A bail review hearing is scheduled for Wednesday and a pretrial hearing is set for March 27.
