GUILFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Guilford woman has been charged with stealing more than $4,000 from a booster club for the local high school boys’ lacrosse team.

Forty-two-year-old Ann Ranfone was arrested on a third-degree larceny charge earlier this month and released on $5,000 bail. She’s scheduled to appear Tuesday in New Haven Superior Court.

Police allege Ranfone stole the money from the Guilford High School boys’ lacrosse team booster club last year when she was president of the group. Authorities say she used debit cards from the club’s bank account to buy clothing, food, gas and other items for her personal use.

Ranfone couldn’t be reached for comment Tuesday. Phone listings for her were not in service. It’s not clear if she has a lawyer.

School officials declined to comment.
