HARTFORD, Mich. (AP) - Police say a series of crashes along an icy stretch of Interstate 94 in southwestern Michigan left several people injured.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/M9tKHS ) that Michigan State Police Lt. Dale Hinz says crews worked to clear wreckage from eastbound I-94 near Hartford in Van Buren County. There were three crashes that closed the freeway at about 5 p.m. Monday for more than six hours.

Police say one person was critically injured and some others had minor injuries.

Hinz says at least 16 semi-trucks several cars were involved in the crashes, caused by blowing snow and icy roadway conditions.
