NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a New York City travel agent has admitted she ripped off fellow Dominican immigrants on plane tickets to their homeland.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office says Cecilia Suarez pleaded guilty Tuesday to grand larceny and other charges. She’s expecting a 1 1/2-to-4 1/2-year prison term at her sentencing, set for Feb. 11.

Her lawyer’s phone number wasn’t accepting messages Tuesday evening.

DA Cyrus R. Vance Jr. says Suarez charged people for round-trip flights to and from the Dominican Republic but provided only one-way tickets. Vance says the 30-plus victims together lost over $20,000, and some missed school and work while stuck abroad.

Prosecutors say the 55-year-old Suarez also made unauthorized use of victims’ credit cards to buy plane tickets for other people.
