DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Former state representative, Dearborn councilman and city fire chief Gino Polidori has died. He was 72.

Santeiu & Son Funeral Home says Polidori died Sunday of cancer at his Dearborn home.

He was appointed fire chief in 1973, retiring in 1996. He later was elected to the Dearborn City Council and spent seven years on that board before serving three terms in the state House from - from 2004 to 2010.

U.S. Rep. John Dingell says Polidori served “with a level of dedication and selflessness.”

He’s survived by his wife Betty, a son, two daughters, two brothers and his mother.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Garden City.

A funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Barbara’s Parish in Dearborn.
