ATLANTA (AP) - Forecasters say a winter storm has dropped more than 3 inches of snow in some areas of north Georgia.

National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Willis says 2.3 inches of snow was recorded at Hartsfield Jackson International Airport after hours of snowfall Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Willis says about 3.5 inches of snow fell in Cherokee County, northwest of Atlanta, and between 1 and 3 inches fell in areas of the state near the Tennessee border. Willis says forecasters don’t have numbers for middle and south Georgia because snow began falling there late Tuesday.

Willis says forecasters expect most of the snow and ice to continue posing problems overnight and Wednesday, because temperatures throughout the area aren’t expected to rise above freezing.
