GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Police have arrested a New Orleans man suspected of shoplifting $3,450 in clothes from Belk’s department store in Gulfport.

On Monday, police arrested 47-year-old Melvin Roland Burton Jr.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/LjaEPv ) the incident was reported in December but Burton drove off and hadn’t been found. Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner signed an arrest warrant and set bond at $50,000.

Burton also was wanted on a probation warrant in Louisiana.

It was unclear whether Burton has an attorney.
