PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Peoria man is in custody for alleged child molestation involving his 10-year-old niece.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials say 20-year-old Anthony L. Auston is being held on suspicion of five counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor under age 15 and one count of sexual abuse.

Auston was arrested Monday by sheriff’s detectives and booked into a downtown Phoenix jail.

Authorities say Auston is accused of repeatedly molesting the girl while they lived in the same residence.

The molestations allegedly began more than five months ago and the last encounter reportedly occurred two weeks ago.

The young girl told her grandmother, who notified sheriff’s officials.

Authorities didn’t immediately know Tuesday whether Auston has legal representation yet.
