CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Temperatures dropped to record levels in two northern West Virginia cities Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in both Morgantown and Wheeling fell to 9 degrees below zero.

Morgantown’s old record for Jan. 28 was 6 degrees below zero in 1977. The old record in Wheeling was 2 degrees in 2005.

Both cities are under wind chill warnings until 1 p.m. Tuesday.
