STAUNTON, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Department of Corrections probation officer has been convicted of sex-related charges involving two probationers.
The News Leader (https://bit.ly/1jYG1e9) reports Meaghan Fields entered an Alford plea Monday in Staunton Circuit Court to two counts of carnal knowledge of a probationer. That’s a plea in which a defendant acknowledges there was sufficient evidence for conviction but does not admit guilt.
In return for her plea, drug, gun and bribery charges were dropped.
The 29-year-old Buena Vista resident faces up to 10 years in prison when she’s sentenced July 14.
Department of Corrections spokesman Larry Traylor says Fields served as a probation officer in Staunton from October 2011 until September 2012.
