SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 21-year-old woman accused of fleeing the scene after crashing into a stroller and killing the toddler inside in West Valley City has pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Kimberly Munoz pleaded guilty Monday to one felony count of causing an accident involving property damage. She originally faced charges of hit-and-run causing death, driving without insurance, not wearing eyeglasses and having an illegal window tint.

Munoz’s attorney says the stroller was unavoidable and in a place it shouldn’t have been.

Court documents show Angela Barnett was crossing a poorly lit street outside a crosswalk with her children on June 10.

A car hit the stroller and 2-year-old Gavyn Barnett was thrown out. He later died.

Police say family members of Munoz’s ex-boyfriend led officers to Munoz, who admitted to the crash.
