ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A former justice officer at a youth detention center in Anchorage is accused of sexual abuse of a minor.

KTUU (https://is.gd/SeuafS) says 32-year-old Daniel Carey was arrested Tuesday afternoon and taken into custody in Anchorage. He is charged with sexual abuse of a minor.

It’s unclear if Carey has an attorney.

Anchorage police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro says an arrest warrant for Carey was issued Friday, but authorities were unable to contact him immediately.

Authorities say Carey was a justice officer working at McLaughlin Youth Center and police were notified that he developed a sexual relationship with a minor after the juvenile left the facility. Castro says Carey no longer works at the center.

The center houses youths detained for pending court actions and those who are institutionalized for long-term treatment.
