SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Gov. Gary Herbert says Utah’s economy is doing well but still needs to expand.

Herbert said during his annual State of the State speech Wednesday evening that he would like to see Utah increase its exports by $9 billion by the end of 2015.

The governor says the state will reach out to corporations and small businesses to help accomplish the goal.

He also says the state is making progress on a goal he set in 2011 to create 100,000 jobs in 1,000 days.

Herbert says about 70,000 private sector jobs have been created and the state unemployment rate has fallen to 4.1 percent.

That’s the lowest it has been since late 2008.
