LAS VEGAS (AP) - A new lawyer is poised to take the case of a Saudi Arabian air force sergeant facing a minimum of 35 years to life in Nevada state prison for raping a 13-year-old boy at a Las Vegas Strip hotel.

Attorney Don Chairez (shar-EHZ’) says he’ll withdraw from representing 24-year-old Mazen Alotaibi (MAH’-zen ah-loh-TAH’-bee) during a court hearing on Wednesday.

Prosecutor James Sweetin says Alotaibi’s sentencing will be postponed.

Chairez says attorneys Dominic Gentile and Vincent Savarese III are preparing an appeal of Alotaibi’s conviction.

A jury found Alotaibi guilty in October of kidnapping and forcing sex on the boy in the bathroom of a sixth-floor room at the Circus Circus hotel on New Year’s Eve 2012, and of fondling and kissing the boy on the way to the room.
