TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Tempe police say illegal drug production may have caused an explosion that blew out the rear window of a SUV at a convenience store Wednesday night.

Store employees helped the driver put out the resulting fire after the explosion, but the driver then drove off before responders arrived.

The vehicle was found in a nearby apartment complex’s parking lot, but the driver remains at large.

Police say the bomb squad examined the car and found that it didn’t contain explosives.

However, police Lt. Scott Smith tells KTVK-TV (https://bit.ly/1eav6hE ) that it looks like a torch was used to extract hash oil from marijuana and that fumes ignited inside the vehicle.
